TempSure Vitalia

Finally there is a non-surgical, effective treatment for many post partum and post menopausal complaints including:

  • Bladder leakage, particularly after coughing, sneezing, running or jumping;
  • Vaginal laxity;
  • Loss of vaginal lubrication

TempSure Vitalia is a painless, comfortable vaginal treatment which uses radio frequency heat to heat the treatment area to a therapeutic temperature of between 39 and 410C. At this temperature the ligaments supporting the bladder are tightened, which increases bladder control, and the lining of the vaginal wall thickens and tightens resulting in improved lubrication and increased comfort during sexual intercourse.

Also, the TempSure Vitalia treatment can be applied to distended labia for a tighter, firmer appearance.

FAQ’s

Who is a suitable candidate for TempSure Vitalia treatment?

  • Anyone who has experienced mild to moderate loss of bladder control due to ageing or childbirth;
  • Anyone who has experienced mild to moderate vaginal laxity due to ageing childbirth;
  • Anyone experiencing mild discomfort during intercourse due to loss of vaginal lubrication caused by ageing or childbirth;
  • Anyone who wants to improve the appearance of overlarge labia.

This is a very sensitive area. Will the treatment be painful?

Absolutely not. The single use probe has a small diameter (about the same as a tampon) and, after lubrication with a small amount of ultrasound gel, glides smoothly and painlessly into the treatment area. The patient is almost unaware of the heat being applied and experiences this heat as pleasant.

Who will be performing the treatment?

Due to the sensitive nature of this treatment, Tropicalaser has engaged an RN, Nurse Jackie, to perform our TempSure Vitalia treatments.

Who cannot be treated with TempSure Vitalia?

Absolute contraindications are patients who:

  • Are allergic to gold or nickel because the tip of the Vitalia probe is coated with gold alloyed with nickel;
  • Are allergic to corn because the ultrasound gel uses corn as an emulsifying agent;
  • Are currently under treatment for a vaginal, ovarian or uterine condition;
  • Are pregnant or may be pregnant;
  • Have a metal implant such as a pacemaker because of the use of monopolar RF.

I have an IUD. Can I be treated?

  • Possibly. We regard an IUD as a caution, not as an absolute contraindication. If we start treatment and the patient experiences excessive heat at the site of the IUD, treatment will be terminated.

How long does the treatment take?

  • We treat the vagina in 4 quadrants, each quadrant being kept at the therapeutic temperature for 7 minutes. The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Treatment of the labia is done bilaterally – 7 minutes per side.

Is there any downtime?

No, there is no downtime at all. You can continue with your normal activities immediately after treatment and you need not take any special precautions after treatment.

For how long must I avoid having intercourse (sex) after treatment?

Please wait 8 hours after treatment before having intercourse.

How long after childbirth should I wait before getting treatment?

We recommend you wait at least 3 months after childbirth and would prefer you to have already seen your obstetrician for your post delivery check up.

Is treatment covered by Alberta Health or my health benefits?

Unfortunately Alberta Health does not cover TempSure Vitalia treatment. You may be able to cover some or all of the costs if your health benefits include a wellness plan. Please consult your Plan Adminstrator.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required will depend on the severity of the reason for undergoing treatment. A course of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart may be recommended. For most patients, relief from symptoms will be apparent even after the first treatment, but best results may require the full course.

How long will results last?

This will vary from patient to patient. Even our over-sixty patients experience relief from previous symptoms for six months or more after a course of treatments. However, normal ageing may predicate maintenance treatments every 6 – 12 months or so.

I have an STD. Can I be treated?

Please wait until your STD has completely cleared before being treated. If you have genital herpes, we will not treat you if you are having a flare up.
